Meek Mill is reportedly suing Philadelphia police for false imprisonment. According to the Courthouse News Service, the rapper has claimed that back in October 2012, cops locked him up without cause and posted his photos on Instagram. He is suing the City of Philadelphia and officers Andre Boyer and Michael Vargas in Federal Court for civil rights violations, false imprisonment, invasion of privacy and civil conspiracy and is seeking punitive damages.
In his complaint, Meek detailed the arrest, saying that he was pulled over by Boyer and Vargas "without cause or justification" on October 31st in Philadelphia. After Meek was arrested and taken into custody, the officers took pics of him -- which made it onto instagram and other social media outlets. He as released on November 1st without being charged with crime.
- Because of the arrest, he missed a promo appearance in Atlanta -- saying that missing the date caused "the loss of numerous sponsorships and endorsements; the loss of plaintiff's solitude, seclusion and privacy; the anxiety and embarrassment associated with plaintiff being placed in a false light; and the anxiety and embarrassment of being seized, detained, confined and imprisoned against plaintiff's will."
- For his trouble. Meek is seeking monetary compensation for "civil rights violations, false imprisonment, invasion of privacy and civil conspiracy."
