25 Years Later, Mayor Washington's legacy lives on

Sunday, November 25th 2012 marked 25 years since the untimely death of Chicago's only African American Mayor Harold Washington. He was known for his incredible work ethic and made important changes in Chicago by appointing minorities to city positions, creating an ethics commission, and developing city neighborhoods. Photojournalist Marc Pokempner remembers Washington as an "intellectual workaholic" and says following him on his campaign was like a "graduate course in urban civics."
