DMX was a passenger in a truck that was pulled over in South Carolina Tuesday night — initially for making an illegal U-turn.
Upon being stopped cops said they found weed in the truck close to where the rapper was sitting, and that DMX smelled like he had been drinking, according to a police report obtained by TMZ.
One police man recognized the rapper and asserted that a warrant was out for his arrest, stemming from a previous driving without a license offense.
The "Party Up" rapper was taken to jail after several more bags of weed were found in the car in a search.
But DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, contests he was set up. The exchange with authorities was captured on video by a female companion.
"This ain't no normal traffic stop," the rapper can be heard saying. "Eighteen cops, five cars, get the f--k outta here, man."
According to the police report, DMX became "very aggressive with his words and was making multiple idle threats."
He spent the night in jail and was released on Wednesday only to be placed on extended house arrest for a previous conviction, TMZ reports.
On July 26, the rapper was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol — also in South Carolina. DMX's numerous convictions, dating back to 1998, include arrests for cocaine posession, reckless and unlicensed driving, identity falsification and animal cruelty.
