"How do you like my new entrance music," asked President Barack Obama as he took the podium at the White House Correspondents' Dinner last night. The music was was DJ Khaled's "All I Do Is Win." It is safe to say we have THE moat awesome President ever!
President Barack Obama poked fun at the media, his critics and himself last night at the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner, a star-filled event where journalists and celebrities mixed with the Washington elite.
Joined at the dinner by his wife, first lady Michelle Obama, the president gently knocked Republicans for not working with him on policy priorities and made a rare reference to his race when urging the opposition party to be cooperative.
"I know Republicans are still sorting out what happened in 2012, but one thing they all agree on is they need to do a better job reaching out to minorities," Obama said.
"And look, call me self-centered, but I can think of one minority they could start with. Hello? Think of me as a trial run, you know?" he said.
He took a swipe at people who have doubted his religion and accused him of being a radical leftist, while he made light of his graying hair.
"These days, I look in the mirror and I have to admit, I'm not the strapping young Muslim socialist that I used to be," Obama said. "Time passes. You get a little gray." (Chicago Tribune)
When Jay and Bey returned from their Cuba, Jay released a rap song referencing the trip while saying that he had clearance from the White House. He also threw Obama’s name in a few lines by saying, “Obama said chill ‘You gonna get me impeached’ … We don’t need this s**t anyway chill with me on the beach.”
The media jumped all over the lyrics which resulted in the press secretary holding a briefing to shoot down Jay-Z’s claims. He said, “I guess nothing rhymes with Treasury because Treasury offers and gives licenses for travel, as you know, and the White House has nothing to do with it.” President Obama was asked about the Cuba trip on The Today Show, and he also brushed it off by saying, “We’ve got better things to do.” (Necole Bitchie)
