Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s proposal to issue tickets instead of making arrests for possession of 15 grams of marijuana or less has made progress — and money.

In the first four months, Chicago Police issued almost 400 tickets and made $98,000 in fines, according to the Chicago Tribune.

In early August, they passed new ticketing laws for low-level possession of marijuana. This is just one step toward the 7-million-dollars-a-year goal, and the city is only on track to take in about 3 percent of that.
