The Sun-Times published an article called "Getting a gun in Chicago quick & easy". They interview a guy named "Chis" who is an active teen gang member and also an informant for the police (a SNITCH).

The article is worth reading but I just want to point out that the way guns are obtained in Chicago as described by Chris in the article is NOT exclusive to Chicago, it happens EVERYWHERE in the country.

The way this article is presented and framed just rubs me the wrong way. Anyway, in the article Chief Keef is named as inspiration for making teens want to carry and display guns.

"Sometimes it’s to go shooting at rivals — or “drilling,” as he puts it. Other times, the young gangsters simply pose with their guns in homemade rap videos they post on Facebook and YouTube. Chris credits the Chicago rapper Chief Keef with inspiring him to carry a gun and use it over the past year. “I wasn’t doing this before I started watching the videos. The females want to see you be a tough gang-banger,” he said."

In related Chief Keef news, a Chicago teacher uses lyrics from his songs to "connect" to students in CPS schools.
